Volunteers sought for Cultivate Your Career

The Bay of Plenty Young Fruit Growers Upskilling Committee are looking for enthusiastic people who are passionate about the horticulture industry to help out at Cultivate Your Career coming up on Tuesday 7 May in Tauranga.

For those of you who haven’t heard about Cultivate Your Career, this one-day event aims to promote the horticulture industry as a career to Secondary school students in Levels 1, 2 and 3.  Students are taken on a full day bus trip visiting three local businesses, where they will gain a first-hand insight into horticulture and opportunities available to them.  This year’s event has been split into two different tours- A business tour and a science themed tour. Confirmed presenters include: Eurofins Katikati, Jenkins Freshpac Systems, Centre of Space Science Technology, Bee NZ and Mount Pack and Cool.

2019’s event is shaping up to be our biggest yet!

So far we have 315 student registrations, which means we’ll need 6 buses and 12 Industry Ambassadors.

What is involved with being an industry Ambassador?

We are looking for people to jump on board the Cultivate Your Career buses from 8.30am-2.00pm and accompany students to each site visit. During the presentations and activities, we would also like you to assist where necessary and be available to answer any questions from students about the industry should they arise.

This will be a great opportunity to promote our industry to our local youth and will also be a fun day out.

To register your interest please contact before Friday 12 April.
