The contract is available to all growers who are the owner or lessee of a property who holds title to Class 1 kiwifruit while it is on the vine. Under the Loyalty Contract, growers agree to:
- supply Zespri with all their Class 1 kiwifruit
- use post-harvest operator/s that are registered as Zespri suppliers.
How much are loyalty payments?
Payments are usually 25 cents per tray equivalent. Plus, growers may receive a share of Zespri corporate profits under the enduring funding agreement.
Loyalty payments are paid in two installments. Ten cents per tray is paid in January, the remainder is paid in June.
How do I get my Loyalty Payment?
Payments were historically paid via post-harvest operators but are paid directly to growers as of 2025. Update your bank account details via the Industry Portal through your Canopy login.
From 2025, growers may be able to opt in to Loyalty as Shares (LaS). For more information on Loyalty as Shares, refer to the NZKGI Grower’s Guide to Zespri Group Limited Shares guidance or information available on Canopy.
When do I need to update my Zespri Loyalty Contract?
If nothing changes and you want to continue with the arrangement, you don’t need to update anything. The contract just keeps rolling over every three years.
You will need to update your contract with Zespri if you have been issued with a new grower number e.g. changed post-harvest facility, contract options or purchased another crop).
If you want to cancel your contract after the committed period, you will need to terminate using the Option to Terminate form available on Canopy.
