Bay of Plenty Regional Council have released modelling and science data that shows the Waihi and Maketu estuaries in the Bay of Plenty have a high level of degradation due to excessive levels of nitrogen, phosphorous, sediment and faecal bacteria which come from farms, orchards and septic tank seepage.
